Episode 14 | 5 Tools You Need to Launch a Virtual Summit

Planning your first virtual summit but don’t know where to start? In this episode, we’re sharing 5 tools you need to launch a virtual summit.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • [0:53] Tool #1: Website
  • [01:52] Tool #2: Email Marketing Platform
  • [03:23] Tool #3: Checkout Cart
  • [05:44] Tool #4: Course hosting platform
  • [7:16] Tool #5: Video hosting

Tool #1: Website

Our first tool is a website and it’s arguably one of the most important tools we’ll mention today as this is where people will opt in to sign up for your summit. Some pages you will need are your website are the homepage/registration page, schedule page, speaker page, FAQ page, and more.

This can either be on your current website or a separate website created just for the summit. We recommend having it on a separate website because with a summit you’ll have a lot of additional pages and it can bog down your regular website if you’re not careful.

Tool #2: Email Marketing Platform

An email marketing platform is nonnegotiable so you can collect email addresses and send your attendees a confirmation email in addition to the summit nurture sequence, daily emails, and more.

For paid email marketing platforms, we recommend ConvertKit and ActiveCampaign. If you don’t currently have an email marketing tool and want to utilize a free tool for now, we highly recommend checking out MailerLite.

Tool #3: Checkout Cart

Our third tool is a checkout cart. You will only need this if you are planning on selling an upgrade in addition to your free event. We are huge fans of ThriveCart for your checkout but if you already have a course hosting platform and your course hosting platform offers a checkout page, you can definitely use that instead.

Tool #4: Course hosting platform

You will only need a course hosting platform if you plan on offering an upgraded pass so that you can host the recordings and other included bonuses.

You can use a plugin like LearnDash and host it all on your own website or you can use something like Kajabi, Kartra, Membervault, ThriveCart Learn, etc.

Tool #5: Video hosting

Our final summit tool is video hosting. Depending on your course platform, you may or may not need this but we recommend either Vimeo or Loom for paid options or a private YouTube video for a free option.

So tell us, when are you planning to launch a virtual summit?
